Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27 He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. He was also a part of The Killing, a drama series which was broadcast across the world. He then appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill Two internationally well-known Danish drama series. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene on BBC drama Sherlock. He played the role of Russia's president on the American television show House of Cards. He received an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his part in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. This series was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He has stated that his brother and he first learned English by listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches from the comedy show.
